Full Moon Ceremony – Nemebine Giizis – Sucker Moon (May)

Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig (SKG) and Algoma University’s Shingwauk Anishinaabe Student Association (SASA) will be hosting this month’s full moon ceremony for May 2023. May in Anishinaabemowin is Namebine Giizis (Sucker Moon) or Zaagibagaa-giizis (Budding Moon) depending on your community’s dialect.

We will make our prayer ties (flags), offer asemaa, drum, sing and get together in Circle and Friendship. The Sacred Fire will warm and welcome our Spirits and carry our prayers. We will have the 4 traditional feast foods, some desserts (you are welcome to bring in something to share) and welcome a new cycle and month.

You do not need to be a student to attend, they are open to the community unless otherwise posted. So we look forward to having you join us!
